Mudh Harfan: How a focus on results leads to success

By  |

Mudh Harfan made sure to get out of the teens league with a bang: at 19 years, he’s crushed the Men’s Physique Beach Teens Category at the Singapore Fitness Model Search – Showdown! 2017. Always focused on the results fitness has given him, he shows us why keeping your eyes on the goal is important. Let’s see what we can learn from this young rising star.

Q. Could you introduce yourself a little?

I am Muhd Harfan Bin Jamaluddin, 19. I recently graduated from ITE CollegeWest with a cert in Nitec Automative Heavy Vehicle. My hobbies include going to the gym at least five times per week, as well as playing games. I enjoy going for runs and cycling, as well as playing rugby and soccer.

I used to be really skinny, and I didn’t like the way I looked so I started working out. I fell in love with the results I was getting, so that was something that made me motivated to continue and get better at it.

After many of my friends had taken part in FM League, I became interested in it as well and decided to try it out.

Q. What is your greatest accomplishment?

Winning the Overall Men’s Physique Beach Teens Category (Age 14-19) in the Singapore Fitness Model Search – Showdown! 2017.

When I won, I was in shock as I wasn’t expecting it, but I’m glad that all my hard work and hours of dedication paid off (and most importantly most importantly, my confidence that I could do it).

Q. What’s your routine like? How much time do you spend exercising?

I train both my upper and lower body twice a week and spend roughly 1 – 1.5 hours in the gym. I usually hear hardcore or fast-paced music while working out.

Q. What does your off-season eating plan look like?

For my off-season diet plan, I don’t have one. I just have what I like, but I do make sure to hit my macros in a surplus.

Q. What keeps you motivated?

What I love most about fitness is just being able to keep fit in general, and the pride in taking care of my body and health. Seeing the positive changes to my body and achieving the results I’m looking towards helps me to push myself harder (and keep the diet).

Q. Who were your heroes growing up and how did they help inspire you to get involved with fitness?

My first hero was my dad because he used to be a bodybuilder as well. Andrei Deiu has got to be my favourite athlete. I find his body to be quite proportional and symmetrical. The fact he’s still relatively young (at only 20) and able to accomplish so much, just inspires me more to keep pushing myself.

Q. What are your future goals, dreams and plans?

I plan to be a part of the fitness industry. I’m working towards being a personal trainer and taking part in upcoming competitions is what.
