Local Physique Athletes Face Off Against The Best at the Nationals
SINGAPORE – With FM LEAGUE NATIONALS 2017 and FM LEAGUE ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 drawing near, athletes have been preparing with vigour. Held on 22 October at the MES Theatre at Mediacorp, the competition will feature 150 competitors from Singapore and different parts of Asia.

The highly anticipated FM LEAGUE ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP 2017 will feature top athletes from across Asia, and local bodybuilders will face off against the best in the region. Featuring a host of premier physique athletes, the intense competition is bound to be a spectacle in its kind. Winners of the intense competition will walk away with over US$50 000 in cash!
Currently in its fifth cycle, FM LEAGUE NATIONALS 2017 is Singapore’s longest-running physique sports championship, and is another highly anticipated event. Danie Dharma, Mr Singapore 2016, will face off against three-time Mr Singapore Champion Sasi Zura, who will be making his return after a two-year break from competitions. Additionally, Darren Wee, the defending Men’s Physique National Champion, will face off against Kasbani Kasmon as they fight for the Men’s Physique Overall title.
These physique sports competitions are hosted by Fitness Movement League, the largest local bodybuilding and physique sports organisation in Singapore. Its’ events include competitions in the Asian regional level, national level, and tertiary as well as various novice levels.

Fitness Movement League’s founder, Kevin Chiak, holds multiple titles in national bodybuilding championships, including the Singapore Senior Manhunt (1996 and 1997), the National Bodybuilding Champion (2007 to 2010) and overall champion of Mr Singapore (2010).
Currently, Kevin provides training and coaching, and is particularly interested in developing youth physique athletes locally.
“FM LEAGUE is committed to developing the youth sector for this sport in Singapore with dedicated events specifically for the young and novice athletes aged 14 and up,” he said.
“We invest heavily in training and education to inculcate the right attitudes, skills and knowledge through sports.”
To foster a positive environment for developing future athletes, Kevin also mentioned that FM LEAGUE is in the process of setting up a physique sports academy. A new gym will be ready by November and it serves as a great platform to build a strong foundation for Singapore’s young athletes.
As a graduate with a Master’s in science in Medical Fitness, Kevin hopes rectifying medical problems associated with unhealthy lifestyle choices through fitness. He also provides personal training and coaching in image grooming.
